Boomer Named Lou Groza Award ‘STAR OF THE WEEK’
Colton Boomer, the sophomore kicker for the University of Central Florida (UCF), has been named as one of the three "Stars of the Week" by both the Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl. Boomer's recognition came after he kicked a 40-yard winner as time expired in UCF's 18-16 road victory at Boise State last Saturday.
Boomer's impressive performance included four field goals, with his opening 50-yarder setting a personal best. He then surpassed this record with a 55-yard kick that also matched the longest in program history. Boomer's four field goals tied his own UCF single-game record, and he is now 18 of 19 in his UCF career. His only miss occurred in 2022 at Memphis on a play where the ball was not intended to be snapped.
On Monday, Boomer was recognized as the Big 12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his outstanding work at Boise State. With his continued success, Boomer is proving himself to be a valuable asset to the UCF football team. We look forward to seeing what else he can accomplish in the future.
Boomer's impressive performance in UCF's game against Boise State has earned him recognition from various entities in the sports industry. His talent and dedication are evident in his records and accomplishments, and fans are excited to see what he will achieve in the future.
